Duck Pond Park Clean Up

Battle Ground Lions Club (MD19-G Battle Ground WA)

Florence Robison Park duck pond clean up!

Battle Ground Lions Club ‘s most recent project is our Duck Pond Park Clean up.

The clean up included:

    • Trash pick up
    • Tree limbing,
    • Taking out blackberry and other brushes.
    • Ongoing vegetation clean up and bench rehab.

We also posted signs on what to do and what not to feed the ducks. What to feed the ducks? Lots of ducks there and they agree: please do not feed them bread! Corn, oats, peas, birdseed, and chopped lettuce. Cooked rice is much healthier for them! Thanks to Patrick Steinke and Ken Steinke for getting the signs installed.

It  was an easy project in terms of  Covid Rules as we could easily stay  6′ apart. This was a project where community members could join as well.

The park is looking great, go for a visit!

This could be a good project for any club as any park would do, and a Lions Club could take on as much or as little as they want to.

For planning the project and regular meetings, we are meeting via Zoom, and keeping in touch with emails, which we normally do anyway. We are waiting on our local restaurant to give us the go-ahead to meet there again.
