Thanksgiving Food and Blood Drive

Naches  Lions Club (MD19-F)

Naches Lions Club coordinated with American Red Cross to host a blood drive in the basement of a local church. A local fruit packer loaned a large apple bin to collect food as well.
Using email, flyers, reader boards and word of mouth, we asked members of the community to bring non-perishable food, and to sign up to donate blood for this one-day event, a few days before Thanksgiving.

    • Only four or five Lion volunteers were needed to help register donors, and oversee the snack table.
    • We collected over 600 pounds of food for a local food bank.
    • Enough blood was donated to save over 60 lives!

We felt good enough about the results that it is likely we will repeat the event a few times a year.
