Lynn Valley Lions Flood Campaign 2021
An “atmospheric river” hit southern B.C. on Sunday November 14th and Monday, November 15, dumping huge amounts of rain across the region and causing widespread flooding, mudslides and rockslides.
The mayor of Abbotsford, B.C. said catastrophic floods in the Sumas Prairie region were averted Wednesday after more than 300 volunteers built sandbanks around a pump station.
A provincial state of emergency was declared by Premier John Horgan on Wednesday, set to last 14 days and meant to give the government greater flexibility to help keep goods moving.
Some highways, including Highway 7 from Hope, B.C. to Vancouver, have reopened. The city of Hope was hosting more than 1,000 evacuees.
Nearly 20,000 people are still out of their homes across the province.
In light of the historic devastation, the Lynn Valley Lions Club will be matching all personal donations made to the campaign up to $30,000.
We will work with Lions clubs in the affected areas directly.

300 Totes Purchased
Thanks to the generous support of our community, we are very proud to be able to purchase and donate 300 totes to the Abbotsford Lions Club who will be distributing these to families who have been affected by the flooding.
