Community Gardens

Lending a Green Hand

Working as a community FOR the community!

The Lynn Valley Lions Club has raised $30,000 for community gardens!

The Lynn Valley Lions Club are passionate about the environment and the community! This is why our club has a long history of building and maintaining local community gardens in our beautiful community.

Being a part of building community gardens is one of our greatest achievements as a club over the years.  Our club as a group and individually have noticed the following in being apart of this program:

    • We love creating  beautiful green spaces that the entire community can benefit from
    • We love seeing the community come together for a common goal of growing flowers, vegetables, fruits and more.
    • We love seeing children and families enjoy the spaces that an entire community came together to build
    • We love how positively the gardens impact the environment
    • We can see the benefit to those families growing food and using this resource to help their families.
    • Most of all we love seeing  neighbors getting to know each other and working together towards a common goal!

The Lynn Valley Club works has worked with many different partners in building these gardens over the years including:

    • District of North Vancouver
    • North Shore Community Gardens
    • Mosaic Landscaping
    • Edible Garden Project
    • Blueridge Community Association
    • Wall Financial Group
    • United Way North Shore
    • Community Volunteers
    • LV Lions Club Members and Volunteers

Testimonials

Kind Words From The Community

"On behalf of the parents, players and coaches of the Sutherland Senior Boys Basketball team, we would like to thank you for your very generous donation to our basketball team.

With your financial assistance our team was able to travel to Kamloops, BC to represent our school at the AA Basketball Provincial competition. Although, we were not as successful as we had hoped, this opportunity provided us with memories that will last us a lifetime!

Again, thank you for your generosity."

Matt Hilder, Co-Captain, Sabres Senior Boys Basketball

"I would like to thank you for considering me for this scholarship. Like other students who are embarking into university next year, this can be a tough financial time for many. This is true for myself, which is why I can't thank you enough for your contribution. Next year, I will be studying for my Bachelor of Business alongside playing soccer with the Capilano Blues! Since much of my time will be devoted to studying and training, I won't have as much time to work and I cannot help my family mitigate the costs of university tuition for this year."

"On behalf of the Lynn Valley Seniors Association, I would  like to thank the Lynn Valley Lions Club for your generous donation of $1550 to our Association.

The Lynn Valley Seniors Association recently partnered with the Silver Harbour Centre to purchase a used bus that will be used to support the transportation needs of many of our members. It will greatly reduce the challenge and expense in operating one of  our most successful programs: seniors bus trips. These trips are a very important part of the service that we provide to the Lynn Valley Community as they promote social connections among seniors reducing personal isolation.

We will be renting the bus to other community groups when it is not in use by our Association to offset some of the operating costs, but a great deal of ongoing fundraising will need to be done to finance the operation of the bus throughout the year. Your donation  will go a long way towards helping us achieve our fundraising goal.

Again , I would like to thank you for your ongoing support of our Association and for the wonderful work you are doing in the community."

Rosemarie Davies, President, Lynn Valley Seniors Association

"On behalf of Lions Club International Foundation, may I express our sincere gratitude for your generous contribution of $1052.63. As you requested, we are designating this contribution for Japan Earthquake and Tsunami/MJF Fund-2011.

Donations such as yours allow LCIF to quickly and effectively ease the suffering of many in the wake of disaster. Whether it has been an earthquake in Turkey or a terrorist bombing in New York, LCIF has responded with both emergency aid and long-term relief. LCIF partners with local Lions and others to serve the needs of people as no other organization can.

We thank you for your support of the foundation. Your generosity will most certainly have a positive impact on many lives."

Eberhard J. Wirfs, Chairperson, Board of Trustees - Lions Club International Foundation

"On behalf of all the members of the Mount Seymour Lions Club, we wish to say a huge Thank You to you and all the other Lynn Valley Lions who helped us at the Canada Day breakfast. As we noted previously, we served over 800 breakfasts and netted just over $2900.

Our Club could not handle an event like this without the support of your Club.  Your assistance is truly appreciated and we look forward to reciprocating at the tree lot, Lynn Valley Days, etc."

Al Cummings, Event Co Chair, Mount Seymour Lions Club

"The Lynn Valley Lions Club provide financial support to the program directly.  This funding allows us to keep player’s fees reasonable and to subsidize any players who cannot afford to play.  We have used donations from the LVL to purchase new helmets which is a huge help.”

Shane Sheenan, Argyle Football Program Coordinator

"Thank you very much for the generous Technology scholarship from the Lynn Valley Lions Club. I am truly honoured to receive such an award.

I have been accepted into a 3D animation program at Think Tank Training Centre located in North Vancouver. I really appreciate the assistance in paying for this course. I have taken the 3D animation classes at Argyle and I absolutely love this combination of art and technology. I am really excited to be able to purse something that is my passion.

I will continue to strive for excellence and please be assured that I am very grateful and that I will always remember that the Lions Club of Lynn Valley helped me to achieve my goals."

"On behalf of the residents of Cedarwood Lodge, I would like to personally express my  thank you to every member of the Lynn Valley Lions Club who visited on Easter Sunday and brought such joy to the residents. I understand that even the Easter Bunny was on hand.  These wonderful moments bring joy and happiness at a very important time of year and it is your generous sharing of your time, resources and attention which makes it very special indeed. The residents appreciated your visit and the staff truly value how your visit brings happiness to the lives of the residents."

"On behalf of everyone at SOS Children's Village BC, I would like to thank you and the Lynn Valley Lions Club  for your past support of Parade of Trees. Last year, we were able to raise over $37,000 which helped community-based care services to improve and sustain the quality of life of foster children.

Your support is very much appreciated by everyone connected with SOS Children's Village BC. It would be great to have the Lynn Valley Lions Club involved in the 18th Annual Parade of Trees event."

Liz Harris, Manager Special Events, SOS Children's Village BC

"The Partnership that Argyle Football has with the Lions not only provides much appreciated financial support for the program, it also gives our boys the opportunity to give back to their community. Volunteering at the Xmas tree lot is an event we have made part of our holiday traditions and look forward to every December!"
